Allocate (verb)

Assign or set aside (a resource or amount) for a particular purpose.

Origin:

Late 16th century (in the sense "assign officially"): from latin allocat- "assigned", from the verb allocare, from ad- "to" + locare "place".

Examples:

2. The government allocated funds for education.
3. The manager allocated two hours for the meeting.
