A Japanese exclamation of enthusiastic approval or celebration, often used in martial arts or other physical activities.
Origin:
Japanese, from banzai ('ten thousand years').
Examples:
- The karate instructor shouted 'banzai' as his students broke boards with their fists.
- After winning the championship, the wrestler raised his arms and shouted 'banzai'.
- The entire team let out a loud 'banzai' as they crossed the finish line in first place.
