To vomit.
Origin:
Mid 20th century; earliest use found in the spectator. probably an alteration of barf (verb sense 2). compare german dialectal bärfen to belch.
Examples:
- The sight of the raw meat made me want to barf.
- After drinking too much, he barfed all over the sidewalk.
- The strong smell of the garbage made me barf.
- I feel like I'm going to barf if I have to eat one more bite of this.
- I barfed all night and now I feel much better.
