Blanch (verb)

  1. To whiten or pale, especially by removing the color from something by soaking it in boiling water, or by exposing it to steam or to the sun.
  2. To cook (vegetables) quickly in boiling water, then in cold water to stop the cooking process and preserve the color and texture.
