Bunion (noun)

An abnormal, bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe as a result of arthritis or an inherited structural defect.

The word bunion is derived from the latin word "bunio" meaning knob or swelling, and the greek word "bous" meaning ox or cow. bunion is first recorded in english in the late 16th century.
