One of the pieces used in playing the game of chess.
Origin:
Middle english chesseman, from old french eschecman, from eschec check (from arabic shāh, king), because each piece has a defined rank in the game of chess.
Examples:
- The knight is one of the six chessman that moves in a unique L-shape.
- He carefully arranged the chessman on the board for their next game.
- The chessman were made of wood and hand-painted.
- She selected the black chessman and he took the white ones.
