Chirp (verb)

To make a short, high-pitched sound, typically a bird or an insect.

Origin:

From the middle english word "cherpen" which means to make a sharp sound.

Examples:

1. The birds chirped merrily in the trees.
2. The crickets chirped loudly in the night.
3. The chirping of the birds woke me up early in the morning.
4. She chirped a tune to herself as she walked home.
