Chortle (verb)

  1. To laugh with a soft partly suppressed or partly muffled sound.
  2. To chuckle, snicker or giggle with pleasure or amusement.

Origin:

The word "chortle" is believed to be coined by lewis carroll in his poem "jabberwocky" in 1871. it"s a blend of the words "chuckle" and "snort".
