Open to challenge; capable of being disputed.

Origin:

Late middle english (in the sense 'fit for being contested'): from old french, or from latin contestabilis, from contestari 'to call to witness, dispute', from con- 'together with' + testari 'to witness'. the sense 'capable of being contested' dates from the mid 19th century.
