Duly (adverb)

  1. In a manner that is appropriate or suitable for the purpose or circumstances; properly.
  2. At the proper or appointed time; punctually.

From middle english duliche, dulich, from old english dǣlic ("fitting, suitable, proper"), from dǣl ("part, portion") + -lic (adjective-forming suffix).
