Origin:

Late 16th century: from french élastique, or via latin from greek elastikos, from elaunein "to be driven, to throw".

Examples:

1. An elastic band is useful for keeping things together.
2. The material of the clothes is elastic so it fits the body well.
3. The elastic waistband of his pants made them very comfortable to wear.
4. The rubber band is elastic, it stretches when pulled.
5. The elastic material can be stretched and then return to its original form.
