Origin:
Late 16th century: from french élastique, or via latin from greek elastikos, from elaunein "to be driven, to throw".
Examples:
- An elastic band is useful for keeping things together.
- The material of the clothes is elastic so it fits the body well.
- The elastic waistband of his pants made them very comfortable to wear.
- The rubber band is elastic, it stretches when pulled.
- The elastic material can be stretched and then return to its original form.
