Evict (verb)

  1. To legally force someone to leave a property, especially a rented property, that they are occupying.
  2. To expel someone from a property or place.

Origin:

Late 16th century: from latin evict- "driven out", from the verb evincere, from e- (variant of ex-) "out" + vincere "conquer".
