Fie is an exclamation of disgust, disapproval or surprise, it comes from middle english "fe" which has the same meaning. it was first recorded in the 14th century and is still used today.

Examples:

1. Fie! What a terrible smell!
2. Fie on you for telling such a lie!
3. The young girl recoiled in disgust and said "fie!" upon seeing the dead rat.
4. The boy was surprised to see his sister and shouted "fie"!
5. Fie on him for not coming to the meeting!
