Fugue

- A piece of music in which a single main theme is repeated or imitated by voices or instruments in succession or in parallel, typically creating a complex polyphonic texture.
- A state of temporary amnesia in which the sufferer runs away from home or otherwise disappears and is unable to remember their past life.

Late 16th century: from french, or from latin fuga "flight", from fugere "to flee".
