1. Extremely bad or unpleasant.

Origin:

From a combination of "god" and "awful".

Examples:

1. The concert was godawful, the band was out of tune and the singer was off key.
2. The party was godawful, it was so boring that I left after an hour.
3. The food was godawful, I couldn't even finish my meal.
4. This is a godawful weather today.
