Goodbye (interjection)

Used to express good wishes when parting from someone.

Origin:

Early 19th century: a reduced form of god be with ye.

Examples:

1. Goodbye, it was nice seeing you again.
2. She said goodbye to her friends and left the party.
3. Goodbye, have a safe trip.
4. He waved goodbye as the train pulled away.
5. She whispered goodbye and closed the door behind her.
