To have a hallucination; to experience a false perception of something that is not actually present.
Origin:
Late latin hallucinat- "wandered in mind", from the verb hallucinare, from latin alucinari "wander in mind", from alucinari, from alucin- "wanderer", from aluce "wander, stray".
Examples:
- He hallucinated that there were giant spiders crawling on the wall.
- She had been hallucinating for days before anyone realized she was ill.
- He hallucinated that he was in a different place and time.
- The patient was hallucinating and could not distinguish between reality and fantasy.
