Headlock

A wrestling hold in which a person's head is locked in place by the arms of an opponent.
Origin:
Early 20th century; earliest use found in the ring. perhaps blend of head + lock.
Examples:
- He put the wrestler in a headlock and held him down until he gave up.
- The fighter applied a headlock to his opponent, causing him to submit.
- The coach taught his team how to get out of a headlock and counter with a different hold.
