The state or quality of being unable to perform sexually; the inability to achieve or maintain an erection.

From old french impotence, from latin impotentia "want of power, weakness", from impotentem (nominative impotens) "not powerful, weak", from in- "not" + potentem (nominative potens) "powerful".
