To breed animals or plants within a closed group, often resulting in a limited gene pool and increased likelihood of genetic disorders.

Examples:
- The farmer decided to inbreed his prize cows to try and produce a calf with even better genetics.
- The inbreeding of the royal family led to a high rate of genetic disorders within the royal family.
