Lack of control over urination or bowel movements.

Origin:

From in- (not) + continence (self-control, restraint).

Examples:

1. He suffered from incontinence as a result of his prostate surgery.
2. The patient's incontinence was caused by a spinal cord injury.
3. The incontinence adult diapers were discreet under clothing.
4. She was ashamed of her incontinence, but her doctor assured her it was a common problem.
