Origin:
Late 17th century: from late latin infinitesimalis, from infinitus "infinite" + -alis (as in fractional).
Examples:
- The infinitesimal particles were too small to see.
- The infinitesimal increase was not noticeable.
- The infinitesimal change in temperature was insignificant.
- The infinitesimal amount of time was not enough to complete the task.
- The infinitesimal details were overlooked in the grand scheme of things.
