Ingest (verb)

To take food, drink, or other substances into the body through the mouth; to absorb.

Origin:

From latin ingerere ("to bring in"), from in- ("in") + gerere ("to carr.y")

Examples:

1. The animal ingests food by using its long tongue.
2. He ingests a pill every morning to control his blood pressure.
3. Plants ingest water and nutrients through their roots.
4. The baby ingests milk from the bottle.
