- To establish oneself in the favor of someone by deliberate efforts.
- To win the goodwill or support of someone, usually by flattery or other means of persuasion.
Origin:
From french ingratiater, from latin ingratiare (to make grateful), from in- (not) + gratia (grace, favor).
