Interlace
(verb)
- To cross or weave (threads, strips, etc.) over and under one another.
- To combine (images, sounds, etc.) into a single, more complex whole.
Origin:
Late 16th century: from french entrelacer, from en- "into" + relacer "relace".
Examples:
- She interlaced her fingers together in front of her.
- The weaver interlaced the threads to create a pattern in the fabric.
- The sound engineer interlaced the different sound tracks to create the final soundtrack.
- The graphic designer interlaced the images to create an animated effect.
- The vines interlaced to create a natural fence around the garden.
