Late 16c., from french léthargique or directly from medieval latin lethargicus, from greek lethargikos "drowsy," from lethargos "forgetful, drowsy," from lethe "forgetfulness" + argos "idle, inactive".

- The employee was lethargic and unproductive.
- The weather was so hot that everyone felt lethargic.
