Lobotomize

- To perform a lobotomy on (a person).
- To perform a lobotomy on (the brain of a person) as a form of treatment for certain mental illnesses.
Origin:
It comes from the combination of the words "lobe" (a roundish or oval shape) and "tomos" (cut) and "-ize" (to make or do) which refers to the surgical procedure of cutting or removing the lobes of the brain, it was used as a treatment for mental illness or disorder.
Examples:
- The patient was lobotomized in the hopes of curing their mental illness.
- The lobotomy was performed to reduce aggressive behavior.
- The lobotomize procedure was controversial and later discredited.
- The patient was lobotomized in an effort to control their seizures.
- The lobotomize procedure was done in order to alleviate severe mental illness.
