- Hang or droop limply, typically from a feeling of tiredness or boredom.
- Move slowly or lazily.
Origin:
Late 16th century (in the sense "hang loosely"): perhaps from lollard (a term used contemptuously for a member of the sect of the followers of john wycliffe).
Examples:
- He lolled back in his chair, feeling completely relaxed.
- She lolled in the sun, feeling the warmth on her skin.
- The dog lolled its tongue out of its mouth, panting heavily.
- He lolled his head to one side, feeling utterly drained.
- The children lolled around on the grass, soaking up the sunshine.
