Loyalist

- A person who strongly supports their country or political system and is opposed to change or rebellion.
- A person who remains faithful to a particular person, cause, or tradition.
Origin:
Late 18th century: from french loyaliste, from old french loyal 'loyal' (see loyal).
Examples:
- The loyalists in the colonies opposed independence from Great Britain.
- The king appointed many loyalists to high positions in the government.
- The party faithful were referred to as the loyalists of the organization.
- The loyalist soldiers fought against the revolutionary forces during the war.
