Metastasize (verb)

1. To spread from the primary site of a cancer to other parts of the body.
2. To spread from the original site to other parts of the body through the bloodstream or lymphatic system.

Origin:

From the greek words "meta" meaning "change" and "stasis" meaning "to stand".
