Covered with or smelling of mold.

Origin:

From the late 14th century word moldy, which comes from the middle english word moldy, which comes from the old english word moldig, which means covered with mold.

Examples:

1. The bread was moldy and had to be thrown away.
2. The cheese was moldy and not safe to eat.
3. The walls were moldy from the dampness.
