A Muslim fighter who engages in a jihad, or holy war, especially one in Afghanistan against Soviet troops in the 1980s.
Origin:
From arabic مجاهد (mujāhid), plural of مجاهد (mujāhidīn), a person who engages in jihad, meaning "struggle" or "striving".
