Near in time or space; nearly; almost.

Origin:

Old english nēh, of germanic origin; related to dutch na and german nahe.

Examples:

1. It is nigh impossible to get a ticket to the concert.
2. The train is nigh to arriving at the station.
3. He was nigh to winning the race.
4. The sun was nigh to setting.
5. I am nigh to finishing my work.
