To eat an excessive amount of food.
Origin:
From the old english word "ofēatan" which means "to eat too much".
Examples:
- John felt guilty for overeating at the buffet.
- She had to force herself to stop overeating.
- He had a bad habit of overeating when he was stressed.
- Overeating can lead to health problems such as obesity.
