Overfill (verb)

To fill more than necessary or to capacity.

Origin:

Over- + fill, from old english fyllan to fill.

Examples:

  1. The gas tank was overfilled and some of the gas spilled out.
  2. The teacher overfilled the glass with water and it spilled all over the table.
  3. She overfilled the suitcase and had to sit on it to close it.
  4. The store was overfilled with customers and it was hard to move around.
  5. The container was overfilled with food and some of it had to be thrown away.
