Larger than normal or needed.

Origin:

Over- + large, from old english lærge.

Examples:

1. The jacket was overlarge and hung off his shoulders.
2. The car was overlarge for the narrow street and had trouble maneuvering.
3. The overlarge hat kept sliding down over his eyes.
4. The overlarge couch took up too much space in the room.
