Overproduce (verb)

To produce more of something than is needed or can be sold.

Origin:

Late 19th century, from over- + produce.

Examples:

1. The factory overproduced and had to sell the excess at a loss.
2. The company overproduced and had a surplus of inventory.
3. The farm overproduced and had to destroy the excess crop.
4. The industry overproduced and caused a drop in prices.
