Overthink (verb)

To think about something too much or too deeply; to think about something more than is necessary.

Origin:

Early 20th century, from over- + think.

Examples:

  1. He overthought the problem and couldn't come up with a solution.
  2. She overthought the decision and couldn't make a choice.
  3. They overthought the design and it became too complicated.
  4. I overthought the invitation and missed the event.
  5. You overthink everything and it causes unnecessary stress.
