Origin:
Late latin oviparus, from latin ovum 'egg' + -parus 'producing'.
Examples:
- The female komodo dragon is oviparous and lays eggs in sandy nests.
- Birds are oviparous animals and lay eggs which are fertilized internally.
- The oviparous reptile laid its eggs on the warm sand, waiting for the sun to hatch them.
- Fishes can be oviparous or ovoviviparous, depending on the species.
- Some species of reptiles, like lizards and snakes, are oviparous, but others are viviparous.
