Parlay (verb)

  1. To use (something, especially money or assets) to make more of it, especially in business or gambling.
  2. To convert (a victory or other advantage) into further advantage.

Early 18th century: from french parler "to speak" (in the imperative "let us talk"), from old french parler, from latin parabolare "to talk in comparison", from parabola "comparison".
