Pasteboard

A type of board made of layers of paper or cardboard, used especially for making boxes, or as a surface for mounting pictures.
Origin:
Late 16th century; earliest use found in thomas tusser (d. 1580). from paste + board.
Examples:
- The old chest was made of pasteboard and had fallen apart.
- She used a pasteboard as a backing for the painting.
- The cardboard box was made of thin pasteboard.
- The box was weak and easily crushed, as it was made of pasteboard.
- He used a pasteboard for the mounting of his photographs.
