Perhaps (adverb)

Used to indicate that something is possible or probable.

Origin:

Middle english perauens, from old french per haps, from perhap, per hap, probably, from per, by + hap, chance.

Examples:

  1. Perhaps he will come to the party tonight.
  2. I may go to the store, or perhaps I'll just stay home.
  3. It"s possible that we"ll see some rain later, but perhaps it will hold off until tomorrow.
  4. Perhaps you could lend me some money until next week.
  5. He was unsure whether he wanted to go out or stay in, so he told his friends that he would decide later, perhaps after dinner.
