Origin:
From the late 16th century, permeable is derived from the latin word "permeare" which means to pass through. it was used first in english in the sense of something that can be passed through or penetrated.
Examples:
- Permeable membranes are used in water filtration systems.
- A permeable surface allows rainwater to filter through to the soil.
- Permeable pavement can reduce the amount of runoff into nearby waterways.
- The material used in the roofing is permeable to allow ventilation.
- The permeable nature of the soil allows water to seep through easily.
