Plutocracy (noun)

A society or system ruled by the wealthy.

Origin:

From the greek "ploutos" meaning "wealth" and "kratos" meaning "rule or power".

Examples:

1. The country had become a plutocracy in which the rich held all the power.
2. The plutocracy was able to control the government through their immense wealth.
3. The citizens of the plutocracy lived in poverty while the ruling class lived in opulence.
