A small, raised blister on the skin that contains pus.
Origin:
Late 16th century: from latin pustula, from pustulus "pimple", diminutive of pustus "swelling".
Examples:
- The pustule on her skin was red and swollen.
- The pustule was caused by a bacterial infection.
- The pustule was drained by a doctor and the wound was cleaned.
- The patient had a number of pustules on their skin, indicating a severe skin infection.
