1. In poor condition as a result of age and neglect.
2. Appearing haphazardly constructed and likely to collapse.

Origin:

Mid 18th century: from rams (as in rams" horns) + shackle "frame, shack".

Examples:

2. The car was a ramshackle old vehicle that barely ran.
3. The ramshackle building was scheduled to be demolished.
4. The town was filled with ramshackle buildings and rundown houses.
