Ratepayer (noun)

A person who pays a rate, especially a local tax on property.

Origin:

Rate + payer, from the middle english word "rater" meaning "tax collector".

Examples:

1. The ratepayer is responsible for paying the property taxes on their home.
2. The city council proposed a new budget which would raise the ratepayer's costs.
3. The ratepayer association advocated for a more fair distribution of taxes.
4. Many ratepayers in the community expressed their dissatisfaction with the high taxes.
