Shucks

An expression of disappointment or mild annoyance.
Origin:
Alteration of "shucks" (a minced oath for "god"s hooks", the nails used in the crucifixion of jesus christ).
Examples:
- Shucks, I forgot my keys.
- I was really hoping to win, but shucks, better luck next time.
- Shucks, I thought I had it all figured out.
- I wanted to go out, but shucks, it's raining.
- Shucks, I'm out of gum.
