Shucks (interjection)

An expression of disappointment or mild annoyance.

Origin:

Alteration of "shucks" (a minced oath for "god"s hooks", the nails used in the crucifixion of jesus christ).

Examples:

  2. I was really hoping to win, but shucks, better luck next time.
  3. Shucks, I thought I had it all figured out.
