Shuttlecock (noun)

A feathered projectile that is hit back and forth across a high net in the game of badminton.

Origin:

Late 16th century: from dutch shuttle "shuttle" + cock "a tuft or ball of hair or feathers".

Examples:

1. The players hit the shuttlecock over the net using their badminton rackets.
2. The shuttlecock was flying high in the air as the players raced to reach it.
3. The shuttlecock landed just inside the boundary line, giving the point to the serving player.
