To deliberately ignore or reject (someone) in an insulting or dismissive way.
Origin:
Late 16th century (as a verb in the sense "turn up one"s nose at"): perhaps from snub "short, stunted", but influenced by snub "rebuke".
Examples:
- He felt snubbed when she didn't invite him to her party.
- She snubbed the man who asked her to dance.
- He snubbed the new employee and refused to speak to him.
- She snubbed her nose at the offer and refused to consider it.
- He snubbed the invitation and stayed home.
